Holiday Fun for Kids and Their Adults at The Joan and Penrith Regional Gallery
Sydney Dance Company school holiday workshops for 8 – 16 year olds are a fun and focused environment for passionate young dancers with some previous experience to improve their dance technique and learn new routines under the direction of professional teachers and choreographers. Covering a variety of styles including hip hop, lyrical, jazz and contemporary dance, classes are suitable for boys and girls.

Please note there are no one-day workshops.
Fans of X Factor and Eurovision, or do you and your kids just love music? Come along and see one of Australia’s most successful young artists Isaiah Firebrace live in concert at The Joan, Sunday 21 January 7:30pm. Create a magic memory and see Isaiah performing his own original work and well know songs.
A concert just for the younger ones. MiniFest begins with singer songwriter Angie Who, loved by little people and grown-ups alike. Soak up some tunes, then take in Little Big Shots – Australia’s best international film festival for kids with a special guest compere to keep things rolling. A bite to eat then back to the music lounge for a special treat with Nay star of ABC kids Tinkertime and Hootabelle from Giggle and Hoot. One show only Tuesday 23 January 11am – 1:30pm.

Theatre making workshops for budding performing artists. A great opportunity for to enjoy aspects of theatre-making and share new experiences over their summer holidays. Participants can join for a single day or for the full three days.
Costume design and storytelling workshops for the 8 to 12 year olds include designing and making costumes and building story line and structure.
8 – 12 years | 23, 24, 25 January, 9am-4pm
Fees: $60 per day, $162 for 3-day package
For older kids 13 to 17, workshops for voice and movement including: accents, Shakespeare’s voice, sound exploration, stage combat and physical theatre. Participants can join for a single workshop, or for multiple days of the program and enjoy a range of theatre skills.
13 – 17 years | 22-24 January, 10am – 3pm

For creative kids try a workshop at Penrith Regional Gallery. Each workshop is inspired by the works from the current summer exhibition Up in the Sky | Landing Points.

Mask Making Madness – Let your imagination run wild as you create a colourful mask of your own

Stamped Clay Tiles – Explore the heritage garden and make your own stamped tile

Reverse Pastel Pictures – Use a transparent sheet, oil pastels and cellophane to create a colourful landscape work in reverse
Wednesday 24 January | 10am – 12 noon | 8 – 12 years.
Landscape Drawing Workshop – Use pastels, learn about shading, tone, and composition as a landscape drawing comes to life
Thursday 25 January | 10am – 12 noon | 12 – 14 years | $45.
Weaving a Watercolour – Use colour, shape and line to create an abstract watercolour painting, cut it up then weave it back together to create a colourful woven artwork
Thursday 25 January | 10am – 12 noon | 8 – 11 years.
Most Gallery workshops are $30 and all skill levels are welcome.
