Mount Colah is located approximately 30km north- west of Sydney and 5km north of Hornsby. It is the second highest suburb in Sydney by elevation.

Mount Colah is beautifully surrounded by bushlands, considered to be one of Sydney's leafier suburbs, boarded by Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Cycling is a popular activity with Mount Colah being on a popular cycling route which includes Ku-ring-gai Chase Road and cycle lanes on the Pacific Highway.

Mount Colah is home to Mount Colah Public School, located on the eastern side of the railway line. The school was built in 1953 catering for K-6 students.

Mount Colah has three playing fields where most organised sports including Mount Colah Soccer Club, Mount Colah Cricket Club and Athletics are played these being;
