BeecroftWestleigh is approximately 31km north west of Sydney. Westleigh is bordered by Dural, Cherrybrook, Pennant Hills, Thornleigh and Hornsby. Most of the suburb (except the southern side) is surrounded by natural bushland, which at times poses significant bush fire danger.
Westleigh is divided into South and North Westleigh.
The southern side of this division is the older side of Westleigh, here you will find Westleigh Village Shopping Centre, which includes a Supermarket, Newsagent, Chemist, Baker, Fruiterer and other specialist stores, as well as nearby Cellars, day-care centre, dentist and petrol/service station. A fenced off-leash dog park is located between Ruddock Park and the shopping centre.
There are three housing 'villages' built here named "Sanctuary Gardens", "Wild Ash Grove" and "Huntingdale". Westleigh is also home to Thornleigh West Public School. Oakleigh Oval and Ruddock Park are located in Southern Westleigh and home to the Thornleigh Thunder Football Club.
The northern side is the "newer" side of Westleigh. The area was subdivided in 1974 and homebuilding commenced in 1977.
