Madison's Mountain Retreat is holding their annual Open Farm next month where you can come along and mingle with the lovely heard of Alpacas.

Alpacas are gentle, intelligent and hardy animals that are used predominantly for fleece, but are also used as pets, herd minders for sheep, goats and chickens (against foxes and dogs), and for meat and pelt production.

Madison's have approximately 70 alpacas ranging in age from newborn to matriarchs! All the alpacas are for sale, so if you are ready to include a beautiful, toilet trained, halter trained alpaca in your life, come along and meet them. All the alpacas and goats are used to people and hand fed every day.

You can visit Madison's for Alpaca feeding at 2.45pm daily year round!

Special events for the Open Farm weekend include:

  • Alpaca Feeding everyday at 2.30pm
  • Walk an alpaca on a lead!
  • Feed an alpaca from your hands!
  • Watch our resident spinner as she converts our beautiful fleece into yarm.
  • Merchandise for sale.
  • Picnics permitted.
  • Visitors welcome (free), volunteers appreciated.

Madison Alpacas and Goats has been breeding Alpacas since 2005 (Boer goats since 2007). From early days, the herd consistently won at Shows, in the ring, and for fleece judging. Breeding for fineness and quiet temperament, the herd has whites and rich browns. Alpacas can be kept by the home spinner, as guards or as pets on small acreage. Come, meet and buy your new friends!

Madison’s Mountain Retreat is a 4-star alpaca farmstay in Kurrajong Heights, with 8 spacious one-bedroom cedar cottages and 2 refurbished train carriages.  Madison’s has an 18m indoor pool and spa, tennis court, common rooms, gazebo and BBQ.
