Violin eXtreme
Join Alexandre Da Costa - the authentic rock star of the violin - in a world where extreme virtuosity and musical fireworks meet sensitivity and the power of attraction.

The Joan is thrilled to be nearing the first of their Fine Music series – Violin eXtreme and welcome internationally acclaimed violinist Alexandre Da Costa, and his Stradivarius Violin as he performs his high energy concert Violin Extreme, the first performance in the Richard Bonynge Fine Music Series – the summit of musical brilliance – on 25 March at 7.30pm.

The authentic rock star of the violin, Alexandre Da Costa plays with heroism, magic and fire… you will feel the power of Alexandre and his Stradivarius!

Even if audiences are new to violin, they will be refreshingly entertained and irresistibly drawn to the appeal and magic Alexandre weaves.

“What a violinist, what beauty of sound, the fastest fingers I have heard yet”-  Leon Spierer (Berlin Philharmonic Concertmaster 1963-1993)

A display of string fireworks” – The Straits Times, 2016

An extraordinary musical experience, designed with something for everyone - from the soulful sounds of one of the most recognized film scores for violin – Williams’ Schindler’s List -  to the sheer drama of the musical march-like centrepiece of Romeo and Juliet, The Montagues and Capulets (sometimes known as The Dance of the Knights, that has gained popular notoriety as the theme tune of The Apprentice). The program also features the joyous rhythmic melody of Masks and the lively flamenco dance rhythms and melodic patterns of the passionate Spanish folk song from Manuel de Falla’s Spanish Dance, La Vida Breve.
