Horse Riders Get a Boost at Hawkesbury Showgrounds
As part of the nation’s first sports plan - Sport 2030 – the Liberals and Nationals have set a goal to reduce inactivity across the nation by 15 per cent by 2030.
Minister for Sport Bridget McKenzie said Sport 2030 set a goal for Australia “to be the healthiest and most active nation known for our sporting integrity and success”.
“The Community Sport Infrastructure Grant program is an investment in grassroots sporting clubs and organisations that will ensure we get more Australians more active, more often,” Ms McKenzie said.
Liberal for Macquarie Sarah Richards said improvements would be made to the Stable Block to meet growing demand for equestrian sport users and encourage people to participate in community sport.
“This investment will assist with the construction of 26 new horse stable blocks on the Hawkesbury Showground to add to the existing 51,” Ms Richards said.
“We are delivering this upgrade so we can provide the facilities for the growing number of young equestrians getting involved in a fantastic sport.
“The equestrian industry is huge in the Hawkesbury, whether it be with the racetrack, the polo or show jumping and it’s fantastic to be able to announce these essential upgrades.
“This is great news for our community. The strong economic management of the Coalition Government means upgrades like these can be delivered for our region.”
