Morrison Government Delivers Further Federal Funding for Local Hawkesbury Roads

The Morrison Government is providing over $910,000 in funding to help fix Council-nominated priority road projects.
More local roads in the Hawkesbury will be fixed, with the Morrison Government providing over $910,000 to Hawkesbury City Council under the Roads to Recovery Program.

The Roads to Recovery Program distributed funding to local governments who in turn identify and deliver selected road maintenance projects.

Liberal Senator for Western Sydney, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, said the government was focused on delivering a better local road network.

“Securing funding for Council through our successful Roads to Recovery Program ensures a smoother, safer journey and supports jobs throughout the lifecycle of each project,” Senator Payne said.

“This latest funding is in addition to our Road Safety Package, which will see new upgrades along the Bells Line of Road and the installation of a long-awaited pedestrian crossing at the Ross and Kable street intersection at Macquarie Street in Windsor.

“Infrastructure projects drive economic activity and create jobs which is why the Morrison Government continues to invest in better roads across the Hawkesbury.”

Hawkesbury City Council has been allocated over $5.4 million under the Roads to Recovery program which Senator Payne said was just one part of the government’s Economic Recovery Plan from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have funded a new $500 million Local Road and Community Infrastructure Program and the bringing forward of $1.3 billion of the 2020–21 Financial Assistance Grant payment, both of which already benefited the Hawkesbury,” Senator Payne said.

“Each project represents local jobs being supported as we comeback from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
