Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith and Don Harwin, Minister for the Arts yesterday announced that Glenbrook artist Nadia Odlum will receive funding from the NSW Government to further her work.

Nadia will receive a $1,250 NSW Artists’ Grant from Create NSW to undertake a residency at the Palazzo Monti Residency Program in Brescia, Italy.

The Palazzo residency program offers artists the opportunity to find inspiration, forge new relationships and create collaborations.

Stuart Ayres said, “This funding aims to encourage visual artists to move forward with their career and I’m delighted Nadia has been supported by the NSW Government to progress her project.”

Nadia said “This is fabulous news that will provide me with the chance to enhance my creative output.”

Minister Harwin said that local artists across NSW are being supported to undertake a range of opportunities to develop their skills and produce new works.

“The NSW Artists’ Grant will open up many exciting doors for artists from around the state to take on opportunities in New York, Italy and the UK.

“As they hone their skills and exhibit exciting new works both at home and on the world stage, I’m delighted to see the strength and diversity of the projects selected in this round. This funding is a great outcome for artists and communities from around NSW,” said Mr Harwin.

Eight individuals and one duo across the State will share in $12,500 funding in the second of four rounds for 2019.

The NSW Artists’ Grant program is a Create NSW funding initiative administered by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA), the national peak body for the Australian visual and media arts, craft and design sector. Individual recipients can apply for support of up to $1,250 and groups up to $2,500 per project, to cover costs associated with creating, presenting and promoting NSW visual artists and craft and design practitioners’ work.
