New Parking Spaces Open at Penrith Station
“The commuter car park upgrade at Penrith Station has been delivered by the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program which is an initiative to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state,” said Stuart Ayres.
“We know that the lack of car parking at stations is a big concern for customers and that’s why we’ve delivered more than 6000 additional spaces across the state, with more on the way.
“In addition to the new spaces, around 220 spaces have also been returned to customers following the end of construction. There is still some minor line-marking work which will be completed in the coming week, creating a further 36 spaces.
“This is a tremendous boost for Penrith Station customers who will now have access to more than 1,170 untimed and free spaces, including 30 disabled spaces for our less mobile commuters.
“The upgrade also includes a new lift, stairs, lighting and CCTV improvements to ensure safety and ease for everybody that uses Penrith Station.”
The new Penrith commuter car park took 10 months to complete with work commencing in November last year.
The project was funded by the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, an initiative to deliver safe modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state.
The Government has invested over $1 billion in the Transport Access Program since March 2011, with more than 450 projects either completed or underway across the state.
