Senator Payne Announces Funding Boost For Hawkesbury City Council
Minister for Regional Services, Sport, Local Government and Decentralisation, Senator the Hon Bridget Mckenzie, said the program was a prime example of the Coalition Government’s commitment to supporting the efforts of local government to deliver the services and facilities their communities need.
“Under the program, the Government is providing local governments with a total of $2.4 billion in untied grants in 2018-19,” Minister McKenzie said.
“Councils are free to spend this untied funding based on their own local priorities including the infrastructure and services their community needs."
Liberal Senator for Western Sydney, Marise Payne said the funding boost will help Hawkesbury City Council fund important local projects.
“The Coalition government recognises the important service delivery Councils undertake at a grassroots level,” Senator Payne said.
“The government’s financial contribution enables Hawkesbury City Council to invest in local facilities, community programs and environmental works, and these are helping to make the Hawkesbury a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
Hawkesbury City Councillor, Cr Sarah Richards said she was thrilled that the Coalition Government was providing funds to Hawkesbury City Council.
“It is fantastic that other levels of government have been able to support our Council in helping to ensure it is fulling its roles and responsibilities, and I thank the Federal government for providing this support which will help our community at a grassroots level,” Cr Richards said.
“There are many worthwhile projects that this funding could go towards, and I look forward to working with my fellow councillors to help our local community through this funding.”
