What's On at the The Joan this April
Join us for the joyous, sexy and heartbreaking I Want To Know What Love Is on Saturday 6 April for a thrilling production created from 800 anonymously submitted love letters. Anyone who's ever loved, anyone who's ever hurt - this is for you.
In a new community focused initiative, look out for Homeland, running over three consecutive dates from 4 - 15 April and curated by Vonne Patiag as part of the Long Table. Curated by leaders from our local First Nations, CALD & LGBTQI+ communities, Long Table is an opportunity for communities to gather and connect with Q Theatre and each other in a range of workshops, play readings and discussions.
To celebrate World Voice Day on 6 April, we have an exciting program lined up dedicated to all things voice. The Joan will host a unique Voice Masterclass presented by the Australian Voice Association and Australian Dysphonia Network that is perfect for singing and drama teachers, students and performers. Following the Masterclass, the annual Voices in the Valley will showcase the highly acclaimed Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir, ‘Gia’ (Yianna Nicholas) and a spectacular line up of outstanding vocal talent, hosted by Australia’s Funny Man – Anthony Ackroyd. If voice is your thing, then make sure you also check out the outstanding 40-piece Male Welsh Choir on 5 April!
For kids - the much-loved story book, Possum Magic, is making it's way onto the stage on April 9 & 10 for a fantastic new show that brings to life the characters, journey and love that has made Mem Fox's Possum Magic the most-loved and best-selling Australian picture book of all time.
