Nocturnal Nature Safari

Thu 20 Feb 2020
HAWKESBURY residents are invited to take part in a nocturnal nature safari to explore, learn about and enjoy the activities of native animals at night.
The event, being run in partnership with Greater Sydney Local Land Services, Hawkesbury City Council and Hawkesbury Bushcare, will feature well know naturalist Tom Covell, creator of ‘Hooked on Nature’ a popular social media platform celebrating wildlife.

Greater Sydney Land Services officer Angela Maier said a similar event had been held last year with great success.

“The group spotted a family of gliders, spotted spiders and a variety of frogs,” she said.

“It’s likely we’ll see even more this time around with a lot of animals on the move seeking refuge in the wake of the bushfires.”

Bushcare Officer at Hawkesbury City Council Martin Gauci said the safari was designed to get people interacting with nature, and each other.

“It’s a chance to hear from an expert on the art of spotting creatures at night without causing them too much distress or disturbance,” he said.

“Tom is an outstanding presenter who is great at engaging kids and adults alike.”

Hawkesbury’s Nocturnal Nature Safari will be held on Friday, 7 February in North Richmond and Thursday, 20 February in Kurrajong.
Bookings are essential and can be made via Eventbrite
